near the Starbucks in Downey by the 605 freeway. (no we did not go in and spend $5 on a cup of joe. Leon decided to ride with us to Peggy Sue's Diner near Calico for breakfast. We met a lot of riders on the way, at first we thought that they were all headed for Sturgis, but we later found that it was an event in Las Vegas to which they were going.
We arrived in Mesquite at noon, where the temperature was around 110 degrees F. After a quick beer we headed for the casino. Fortunately, the slot machine gods were on my side and I left after making two hits, one for $300 and one for $500. I gave them some of their money back on the crap table but not much.
