Update to travel plans

Update following Anne's health issues.

As most of you already know, we had to cancel the German trip due to Anne's ongoing health problems.

Today, she took the final medical follow up test and was pronounced normal.
I strongly question the background, medical or otherwise of anyone who calls Anne normal.

Just joking...

Now the travel plans are back on track.
Idyllwild, California for 4th of July weekend.

It was decided (by me) that as this is THE barbecue weekend of the year, we needed something we could use on the deck of the cabin.
Answer, an electric George Foreman barbecue.
And, it goes well with the Angels combination spatula / bottle opener that Missy bought me for Fathers Day.

Perfect!

I then thought that we needed a new ice box for the trip. Well, we will be gone three nights, and we need food for ourselves and Missy, of course we may take a beer or three.

Yes, I know they have markets in Idyllwild and yes they will be open on the 4th for part of the day.
But who knows, maybe they will sell out of essential supplies.

So I bought this from Costco.

It is slightly smaller than a European car, but only just.
Now I need to run out and buy a tailgate lift to put it on the truck!!!!

Part of the purpose of this trip is to get Missy out of town during the 4th of July fireworks bonanza.

This is the view from the deck of the cabin.

As you can imagine, they don't take too kindly to fireworks or open fire barbecues in this neck of the woods. (Pun intended)

More soon from the mountains.

Ciao Bella,
Norm

The Travel Season

The 2015 Travel Season Begins!

We have a busy schedule of trips planned this year.
Later this month we are going to Germany for a few days; so I thought that I should practice my German.

Beer drinking that is...

We fly to Frankfurt, spend one night there and then drive to Siegen. We spend a few nights there and we will attend the 150th Anniversary celebrations of Dango & Dienenthal.
The companies seem to last a long time in this area, a few years ago I drove past a plant with a sign outside showing that they had been in business there for 500 years.
On the return leg, we drive from Siegen back to Frankfurt and go straight to the airport for our flight home.

Early in July we go up to Idyllwild in the mountains near Palm Springs for a few days. Missy will go with us on this trip as the hotel takes dogs as do most of the restaurants. The hotel is more like a collection of cabins in the woods, some large some small, but all fairly rustic.

This is the area around the hotel.

Later in July we go to Florida where we will do the Bogart thing and head for Key Largo and on down to Key West. This is an area of Florida we have not yet visited. From Key West we drive back north to Orlando and meet up with Eileen and Neil (Sister and Brother-In-Law) along with their daughters Stephanie and Diane.

August is devoid of trips (For Now)

In September we are going to Spain, first to Madrid for a few days and then on to Ibiza to meet up with Teresa and Ron (Sister and Brother-In-Law).
We fly back to Madrid for an overnight stay and non-stop from Madrid to LAX the next day.

In October, we have a tentative plan to go to San Luis Obispo for a meeting of the California Ariel owners club.

We have definite plans to go to Palm Springs for Harley Heat. This will give us the opportunity to meet up with Leon and Barb. They are coming in from Arizona for the event. Our friends Jeff and Kelly will also be joining us. It should be hot in more ways than one.

Watch for updates as we go along.

Ciao Bella,

Norm
