Day 9

Yesterday we spent the whole day at the event. Just by chance I ran into Werner Nowitzki from Glama.

We chatted for a while and of course he is there for a whole week.
It was so hot at the event that we had to find a bar with shade.
After the first day of riding from Munich to Salzburg in the rain, every other day of riding has been dry. The last three days have been sunny and warm with today being the hottest at about 85 - 90 degrees.

In this place I was struggling to use m best German and after about five minutes the guy who worked there asked if I spoke English. He was from Holland and spoke great English, he said that he had been struggling in German.

As the place where the event takes place is called FAAK you can imagine the play on words is widely used.

Wall to wall Harley's and more pouring in all the time.

This guy took off before the crossing guard gave the signal, the cops stopped him within fifty yards. The guy Jeff was talking to at the time said that it was about 650 Euro ticket in Austria for that offence.

Last night we went to the brew pub attached to the Hofbrau Villacher.
Sitting at the bar, I saw this guy with a Geordie Hog patch, we got into conversation with him and his wife.
It turned out that she had been a teacher at the high school I went to in England, albeit a couple of years after I left. We knew a lot of the same people who worked at the school.
As we left the pub, we found that the couple were staying in the same hotel, when we got to the hotel they were in next room!

Leaving Villach
Today we are headed for Venice. About a three hour ride through, under and over the mountains.
