Day 6

The lady from the hotel in Emmersdorf told us that there was some construction work in Melk just before you got on to the autobahn. Follow the signs "Umleitung" and you will be guided to the autobahn. It was the as everywhere else, they gave you the detour for a few turns and then left you one your own. After about 40 minutes riding we were 5 miles further from our destination than when we left the hotel. Of course the GPS could not help as it did not know which on ramps were closed.
Eventually we got on to the A2 autobahn and headed south and east.
The ride down from Emmersdorf to Villach was a little over 300 miles.
Not far by US standards, but quite a thrash when you don't have one mile of straight road. Maybe we should have rented BMWs, naaaa!

We stopped for gas a couple of times on the way, at this gas station we met a group headed to the same place.
They had ridden from Poland.

We all were riding along great making good progress until traffic came to a halt on a tall bridge. We were able to split lanes and get to the front.
There was truck from Italy stopped for some reason and he had the biggest glue lam on the back you have ever seen. We got by him and then of we went again. Another stop on a tall bridge, this time just in front of a tunnel.
Here we stopped and got off for a while , the next picture is the view from the bridge.

Off again through another tunnel, we must have gone through 20 tunnels on the way through the mountains.

Ms GPS got us to the hotel in the center of town without any trouble.
