More Laughlin

Duringthe day on Saturday, Jeff and I went to the custom bike show at the Colorado Belle.
A few of the specimens are pictures below.

This bike woulld have suited Anne!
Look inside the hard bags.

Of course being beside the Colorado river is always fun, even if you just watch the goings on.

Saturday evening we just waited around the hotel for a while for Barb & Leon to show up.
We had dinner in the Steakhouse Restaurant in the TropX.
It is a pretty nice place and the food is always good.

Then on to the blackjack table to donate some money to the employees retirement fund.

This morning we set off around 7:30 for the trip home.
It was smooth and pretty fast all the way. When I say smooth, I am refering to how the bikes ran, the roads, like Route 66 and the 40 freeway are anything but smooth.

We stopped for gas at Ludlow, as does everyone else, so the wait to gas up is long.

All in all a great weekend with good people, nothing better.

Saturday Morning

I just went down to get a cup of coffee and saw that Nurse Betty was doing a roaring trade in Hair of The Dog.

Newcastle Brown Ale is everywhere, but I prefer Bud.

Today we are expecting Barb and Leon to join us for at least part of the day.

Around Laughlin

Yesterday we rode over to Searchlight, just a pleasant trip. The roads in that area are very good, since the traffic across Hoover Dam was restricted they have been resurfaced and widened.

We headed back to Laughlin to get an electric scooter for Kellie, she had twisted her ankle a couple of days ago and was finding it hard to get around.

Jeff had to drive it back from the rental place!!!!!

I walked ahead with the red flag to clear the way.

There were more people on Friday than on Thursday but still nothing like numbers from a few years ago.
We ran into JJ, a lady we know from Mothers, in Edgewater, she complained that she could have more fun in an old folks home.

This would have been wall to wall bikes a few years ago.

Once the sun goes down they bring out the cavalry to keep order.

And of course the local wildlife appears!!

Leaving for Laughlin

I left home about 6:30 and rode over to Jeff's house, we then all set for Claremont where we met up with another guy who was riding out with us.

As usual we stopped at Peggy Sue's for breakfast before heading on toward Laughlin.

Then we stopped at Goffs for gas and were delighted to pay only $5.65 a gallon!

Today we are riding over to the Hoover Dam to check out the bridge.

Run Seal Beach 2013

Or in my case Walk Seal Beach!

Today we participated in the annual Seal Beach run / walk to aid local charities.
We enter the 5K walk and I have two goals:
1) Finish the walk without having a heart attack.
2) Improve on last years time.

Today was a success on both counts.
Last year my time was a shade over 54 minutes.

THIS YEAR!

(Run Seal Beach Results) Hi Norman! Your time was 47:44 today! The RaceWire Team

I might even have to train for next year's event to beat that time.

Of course Madame does better her time was 45:22.

Ready for the OFF

Backyard Complete

After only four days, the backyard restoration is complete.

There are a few pictures below of the final product; there is also a picture of one of the "Plumbers" who worked on the project.

The picture of the "Plumber" was taken remotely using the webcam in the backyard. The camera is accessible worldwide via the internet. That way I can keep an eye on the dogs and Madame!

More soon about the trip to Laughlin!

Getting Ready

The travel season is about to get under way again, well at least for me it is.
Madam has already been to NY-NY for a week.

Just over three weeks to go and it's time for Laughlin and the River Run.
Jeff and I are polishing up our chaps and are eager to get out again heading for the river.
It will be three years since our last visit to River Run, in the intervening years we went to Sturgis and the Euro Harley Rally.

On to more mundane stuff.
We have a back yard project under construction or more like destruction right now.
We decided to have the concrete cut and colored to break up the old grey look.
Today they started cutting the pattern and filling in the gaps.
Of course to make room the old jacuzzi had to go!

This is the pattern.

And this is the representation of what the finished project should look like.

More soon as the project progresses.
